Yellowtail Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Chlorurus
The yellowtail hamlet's body is blackish in color, with the intensity of black varying from bluish to brownish. Its unmistakable feature is a bright yellow caudal (tail) fin that contrasts sharply with the dark body — the only hamlet with this specific combination of a largely dark body and a vividly yellow tail. This separates it instantly from H. nigricans, which is uniformly dark with no yellow tail, and from H. guttavarius (shy hamlet), which also has a yellow head and body but whose yellow extends forward to the head and fins, not just the tail.
