Yellowbelly Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Aberrans

The yellowbelly hamlet is characterized by its ventral areas, including the fins, being yellow, with the head bearing blue markings. The dorsal areas are brown or a mixture of brown and blue, with black spots at the caudal peduncle. It exists in two color forms: one with a brown dorsum and yellow belly (Central America) and another where the dorsum can be blue or brown with yellow underneath (Virgin Islands and Greater Antilles). The yellow is ventral, not facial, distinguishing it from the shy hamlet (H. guttavarius), where yellow is concentrated on the head and fins.
