Tan Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Randallorum

The tan hamlet is found widely in the central and western Caribbean; its color varies from light brown to tan, Brown to red-brown above, yellow-brown below, and it has a large oblique black blotch from eye to front of top jaw, a black spot at the base of the pectoral fin, and occasionally on the upper part of the caudal peduncle. Dorsal fin brown, tail, anal and pelvics yellow-brown, tail sometimes with dark stripes along the top and bottom borders; iris yellowish. It is distinguished from the barred hamlet (H. puella) by lacking distinct vertical bars and having a more uniformly tan coloration, and from the butter hamlet (H. unicolor) by the presence of those dark spots on the snout and pectoral base rather than a clean pale body with a tail saddle.
