Shy Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Guttavarius

The shy hamlet has a dark-brown body, sometimes with a blue cast on the upper back, with the head and all fins yellow; it has a large blue-lined black blotch on the side of the snout and blue spots around the eyes and on the cheek. The two-tone split — yellow head and fins, dark body — is the key identifier. It differs from the golden hamlet (H. gummigutta), which is uniformly golden all over, and from the yellowbelly hamlet (H. aberrans), where the yellow is ventral rather than concentrated on the head, and the dorsum remains brown or blue-brown.
