Blue Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Gemma

The blue hamlet's head, body, and fins are plain iridescent blue, and there is a black stripe on the upper and lower edges of the caudal fin. It is distinguished from the indigo hamlet (H. indigo) by lacking the dark blue-black vertical bars that cross the indigo's body, and from the maya hamlet (H. maya) by having those black caudal fin margins — the maya is a plain, uniform blue with no black on the fins at all. The blue hamlet's color has been compared to the blue chromis (Chromis cyanea), which it may mimic.
