Barred Hamlet - Hypoplectrus Puella

The barred hamlet has a pale yellowish to tan head and body marked with as many as seven dark brown vertical bars, which vary in number, darkness, and length. The large pelvic fins vary from yellow to dark bluish-brown, and thin iridescent blue lines may appear on the head. It is the most widespread barred species and differs from the closely related H. floridae, H. ecosur, and H. liberte by lacking the symmetrical paired tail-base spots of floridae, the distinctive spot pattern of ecosur, and the horizontal striping of liberte. Unlike H. providencianus, it has no dark triangle through the eye.
