StripedHamlet - Hypoplectrus Liberte

The liberty hamlet is the only species in the genus with horizontal striping rather than vertical barring. It is pale blue with paler fins and no black on the fins. This horizontal stripe pattern is completely unlike any other hamlet, and its pale blue body without black fin margins also separates it from the blue hamlet (H. gemma), which is iridescent blue with black caudal fin edges. It is known only from Fort-Liberté Bay in Haiti and is considered one of the rarest coral reef fishes in the world.
